Been a Pink Floyd Fan since 74, So I Will give a Full Throated Disagreement with you. This song is beautifully emotional, and her vocals are super emotive, and Davids solo at the end is perfect. Me thinks you had your own expectations Standing firm in the way of your mental vision of the song.

It's pah-kahn pie, not pee-can pie. Pee-can is the container in your tent you use while camping to avid the rabid raccoon, skunks and hungry flying monkeys lions between your tent and the campground restrooms. Got this not too long ago, like it a lot...though, just wondering if anyone had issues of the first song (A) side (Rushing Water/all white LP), skipping like crazy?...it's not the needle, and no problem with the reverse (B) side first song...nor no skipping on any of my many LPs....balance/tracking & level ok!...think I got a bad run production?

I simply don`t get all the praise this song is getting. It`s massive, which means almost not a single negative view. How come? I`ve heard a lot of music through a long life, and this song is far from unique.

Since I was a young teenager who purchased Jefferson Airplane's "After Bathing At Baxter's" and listened to it start to finish over and over again, I do not find Paul Simon's latest to be all that strange or hard to take. Or Rolling Stone's "Satanic Majesty's Request" that I also listened to from start to finish, repeatedly. Or, for that matter, Sgt Pepper.....

Excellent song 10/10, Romany looks more like Young Dave Gilmour than Dave Gilmour ever did. She's kinda how you picture a young Dave Gilmour in your head. It's uncanny.

Great choice of song to cover but the original is better.

We need to see how this track will fit with the rest of the tunes. To me sounds like a little bit of David to show Romany’s small collaboration in the new album. Love the song though.

Kyle, I totaly disagree with you. This song is amazing. You are judging too superficially. Gilmour is an intellectual with a deep soul. No one has reached this level except him.

Thank you for the review. I like the song a lot and I love Gilmour’s subtle and understated solo on it. Everyone who expected a muscle flexing à la Division Bell solos or Comfortably Numb bombastic solo will be wrong to think Gilmour is going to hijack the song’s mood to make a point. It speaks volume to his sensibility and maturity. I don’t agree that it has a “demo” or “fake” quality to it. Quite the opposite in my opinion. Looking forward to the rest of the album.

You just gave your opinion, its not more than that. The so called critics have been proved wrong for ages, they just give their personal note or in some cases they are forced to be music industry muppets( look new Taylor Swift album), so you personally dislike this and I personally like the output. For example the guitar tone is georgous and the solo needs restraint for this kind of song and it fits it like a glove, that's how I see it

I absolutely loved the track, personally. I get what you mean about it being monotonous and honestly... now that I know the chord structure, it is very similar to that of Comfortably Numb... but that just figures why I love his solo so much. And based on that, I guess his solo had to be somewhat understated in comparison to that so that it wasn't too similar. Overall, I think they knocked it out of the park. Certainly way better than the original version by Montgolfier Brothers.

Its melancholy and thoughtful, sweet and painful. I agree there is a Dido-ness to it from the 90's. Can't get it out of my head.

I could give fk all about vinyl so I really want the cd version, but I can't get an answer as to whether the book is the same size for the cd box as it is for the vinyl. If it's smaller for the cd then I'll buy the vinyl box simply for the bigger book and just throw the LPs away.

I just watched the video for the song and I love it. David's guitars are there and he sets the tone that Romany matches with her vocals. It sets a mood and follows it through til the end. I could imagine her singing some of the Floyd songs and I think she'd do a great job. Granted I haven't heard her "sing" with force but just her sound as is great.

I appreciate anything put out by Gilmour at this stage of his life and career, I mean the man is almost 80, what do some people expect? The video is really good & the song wants to be good but never really breaks out. Romany is definitely talented & with a proper Producer will probably create some fine music in the future. This is just OK score it a B- with video & C+ without.

Unremarkable? I beg to differ! This song could only be seen as unremarkable if you failed to understand how each element was carefully crafted to jointly set a certain mood, intentionally. The lingering and fading strings/synth, hammering piano at the first beat of each bar, the silencing of most instruments in the second part and the voice-like guitar tone in the solo. I mean, really! Not every song has to have a climax! This is clearly supposed to be a low-key tune with a focus on the message in the lyrics. In an age of overproduced songs with layers upon layers of production and post-production and predictable structure and oversinging, I think a lot of people are unlearning how to appreciate honest and unpretentiously beautiful pieces of art such as this track. You call David's solo formulaic, graceless, and clunky... Nonsense! It's honest playing and that's it! David's well-known for making his guitar 'speak' and 'sing' as if it was another vocalist - and just like a natural human voice that is full of emotion, it chokes and gasps and breathes. You either completely missed the point and misunderstood the track, or you're trying to go viral with far-fetched criticism.

I’ve always looked for reviews for insights and recommendations, deeper conversations about art, but now it’s just an allegory for the ego of people that have no talent to make art themselves. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but now is just a bunch of Fantanos using others people art for views. It’s okay too say that it wasn’t for you, but it’s always 10 minutes of calling people’s work mediocre, bad, or using the word “charlatans”, calling out their authenticity. Pure ego.
